We are looking to hire a Business Analyst for a hybrid role in Washington, DC.

Position Summary:

The Business Analyst provides business and analytical expertise across the Organizations portfolios and operational divisions. Capable of acquiring and translating requirements into design and implementation for complex business systems. This position requires the ability to work independently and take initiative while working effectively as a member of a project team. Gather information, document processes, and confirm the final documents with users.

Work design:

Work with various teams, independently, and under general direction from the manager. Perform in-depth analyses and interpretations of non-routine problems. Identify and recommend solutions to a variety of conventional and non-conventional problems. Assist in the development of standards, templates, and methodologies. Perform detailed requirements analysis, document processes, and perform user acceptance testing, when needed. Have the ability to perform analytical thinking and be able to explain difficult concepts to non-technical users.

Position Accountabilities:

  • Participate in business process discussions, identification and implementation of business and technical solutions including designing, modeling, monitoring, and optimizing systems and the effective execution of projects in support of those activities.
  • Evaluate business processes, predict requirements for areas of improvement, and develop and recommend solutions.
  • Gather, analyze, and document business requirements.
  • Develop an in-depth understanding of supported business portfolios by learning business processes and current and available enabling technologies.
  • Assist Program and Project Managers in planning and executing projects through the lens of optimizing business processes.
  • Plan and coordinate project testing activities including user acceptance testing (UAT), System, and Integration, and perform UAT when necessary.
  • Maintain a high-level understanding of current technologies and software architecture.
  • Participate in all phases of the software development lifecycle including Agile; analysis of business function, software design, specifications development, software development, prototyping, user-feedback sessions, testing, documentation, ongoing maintenance, and planning for redesign or transition to current and new platforms.
  • Lead reviews of business requirements and develop optimization strategies.
  • Gather critical information from meetings with various stakeholders and produce useful reports.
  • Produce comprehensive documentation relevant to completed projects.
  • Effectively communicate and present insights, ideas, and findings to cross-functional team members and management.
  • Communicate status to program, project, and strategic solutions managers and other interested parties.
  • Stay current on the latest process and IT advancements to automate and modernize systems.
  • Ensure solutions meet business needs and requirements.
  • Prioritize initiatives based on business needs and requirements.
  • Update, implement, and maintain work products.
  • Serve as a liaison between business stakeholders and the technical teams.
  • Must be able to balance and prioritize multiple, ongoing projects.
  • Integrate quality into all work products.

Education/Experience/Technological Knowledge:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience; a minimum of 5+ years of experience in business analysis or a related field.
  • Exceptional analytical and conceptual thinking skills.
  • The ability to influence stakeholders and work closely with them to determine acceptable solutions.
  • The ability to collaborate with stakeholders to identify software solutions for complex business applications.
  • Strong analytical and conceptual thinking skills; strong business process modeling skills including current and future state diagrams; UML, or other modeling techniques or frameworks experience preferred.
  • Experience using System Architecture, Visio, or equivalent system architecture or diagramming tool.
  • The ability to understand the inter-relationships of programs, products, and services and the applications supporting them.
  • Excellent technical and communication skills.
  • Excellent documentation skills.
  • Experience creating and presenting detailed reports.
  • Competency in Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Excellent planning, organizational, and time management skills.
