Centurion is hiring a Foreign Affairs Specialist to support one of our clients out of the Washington, DC area. This position is fully on-site.
Required Skills:
- 3+ years of experience in legislative or government affairs, especially experience with Congress
- 1+ years of experience dealing with political-military affairs equities, foreign military sales, defense trade regulations (AECA, ITAR), or other security cooperation activities
- 1+ years of experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 CRM
- Skill and competence in working independently, under pressure on multiple projects, and with the ability to prioritize multiple demands on your time
- Must be able to use Microsoft Office programs including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Bachelor’s degree
- Requires at the minimum, a security clearance of Secret with the ability to obtain a Top Secret or Top Secret/SCI at the request of the COR.
Day-to-day Responsibilities:
- Communicate and advise on pending or proposed legislative action related to PM’s programs and authorities, coordinate communications with Congressional committees, offices, and staff, respond to Congressional or constituent inquiries, and explain PM ‘s programs and regulations to Congress.
- Continuously monitor and analyze the legislative actions of Congress and policy determinations by the Executive Branch which relate directly to the programs PM funds.
- Draft, manage, and/or deliver various communications to the Hill, including letters to lawmakers, vote recommendations, press quotes, outreach to Hill staff, public speaking, and meeting invitations, etc.
- Represent PM in meetings on the Hill, including hearings and mark ups, take careful and complete notes on highlights, noting strategic implications, and report back to appropriate colleagues within the organization to inform legislative advocacy
- Design and execute plans in collaboration with colleagues and allies for congressional and Capitol Hill events (including briefings, workshops, and other education, advocacy, and relationship-building activities).
- Prepare reports related to the work of legislative affairs, including, but not limited to, our weekly, monthly, quarterly, and lobbying reports.
- Assist in monitoring of legislation, breaking news, and in monitoring and drafting social media around our policy priorities and key policymakers and lawmakers at the federal level.
- Master use of the software that tracks congressional engagement and provide support for the legislative team’s use of it, including by logging congressional engagements, relevant activities, progress on policy issue areas, key Hill relationships and producing summary reports.
- Preparation and distribution of email blasts, Hill updates, newsletters, and communications about legislation, the Hill landscape, and policy priorities.
