Key Required Skills:
BMC Control-M application, BMC Installation and Customization Engine (ICE); IBM SMP/E; IBM Job Control Language (JCL); JCL and REXX/CLISTs; RMF, SMF, IPCS, Abend-Aid, File-Aid, SYSLOGs; mainframe SYSPLEX environment.
Position Description:
• Analyzing, evaluating and integrating new/additional Control-M features into the existing Control-M operational plan and Control-M upgrade strategy
• Install and maintain various BMC Control-M software products, including Installation and Customization Engine (ICE), Integrated Operations Architecture (IOA), INCONTROL, Control-M, Control-M/Restart, and Control-M/JCL Verify
• Provide assistance on design criteria, subject matter expertise and best practices on the existing environment where required.
• Provide assistance in developing Control-M test plans.
• Provide operational guidance and technical assistance for the production deployment of Control-M through the system development lifecycle.
Skills Requirements:
Basic Qualifications:
• 7 years of experience or more as a Mainframe Systems Engineer
• 5 years of experience with BMC Control-M application and BMC Installation and Customization Engine (ICE)
• 5 years of experience with IBM SMP/E to perform mainframe software installation and maintenance
• 5 years of experience with IBM Job Control Language (JCL)
• 3 years of experience with writing and debugging JCL and REXX/CLISTs.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Required Skills:
• Ability to analyze, develop, plan and perform mainframe operating system software installation and maintenance.
• Ability to implement, test and verify mainframe software.
• Ability to identify, analyze and resolve mainframe software problems.
• Ability to use mainframe tools such as RMF, SMF, IPCS, Abend-Aid, File-Aid, SYSLOGs, etc., to resolve software problems.
• Ability to coordinate operating system software problem determination and resolution in a mainframe SYSPLEX environment.
• Ability to code in a programming language such as ALC or COBOL on a mainframe system.
• Ability to customize mainframe system software options and parameters.
Desired Skills:
• Prior Federal government experience
• Self-starter, highly motivated individual who adapts and isn’t afraid to volunteer in a dynamic work environment
• Strong attention to detail with an ability to operate effectively across multiple priorities
Education:
• Bachelor’s degree and 8 years of prior relevant experience or master’s with 6 years of prior relevant experience.
• Must be able to obtain a Public Trust
