Position Description
The PostgreSQL Database Engineer has subject matter experise and experience functioning as a PostgreSQL database engineer and administrator, supporting our customer by providing design, build, configuration, test, update, documentation, implementation, operational support, and upgrades for PostgreSQL Open Source (Community Edition). The candidate shall demonstrate extensive knowledge in PostgreSQL database administration and best practices. The candidate shall demonstrate knowledge of cloud solutions and services in a hybrid cloud environment. The candidate must be self-motivated, be able to collaborate in a team environment, and show initiative to support and promote solutions that enhance the modern development environment.
Skills Requirements
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related field in addition to +2 u2013 4 years of hands-on experience
- 5-7+ years of experience with Open Source (Community Edition) PostgreSQL
- 4+ years of experience in Relational Database Administration/Management
- Strong knowledge of RedHat Linux
- Excellent communication skills
Required Skills:
- Excellent ability to communicate with team and customer regarding activities supported
- Knowledge of automated methods and best practices for installation and configuration of PostgreSQL
- Strong knowledge of the PostgreSQL architecture
- Experience with implementing operational automation.
- Documentation skills for creating processes and procedures
- PostgreSQL database operational support skills for educating application development and testing users
- Experience with monitoring tools and tuning procedures, as well as, backup and recovery procedures
- Skills in maintenance tools and procedures
- Experience with GIT or other source control tools
- Experience with shell scripting
Desired Skills:
- Demonstrated DEVOPS experience a plus
- 2 years of experience using Python
- Proven experience using Ansible PostgreSQL Open-Source Database Administrator experience
Education
- Bachelor’s degree and 4+ years of experience in a training-related field or Master’s degree and 2+ years of experience in a training-related field
- Must be able to obtain a Public Trust
