Position Description

The PostgreSQL Infrastructure Engineer has in depth experience using Open Source (Community Edition) PostgreSQL. The ideal candidate will support our customer by providing design, build, configuration, test, update, document, operational support, and upgrades for PostgreSQL Open Source (Community Edition) infrastructure. The candidate will demonstrate knowledge in PostgreSQL Community Edition administration and best practices. The candidate will demonstrate knowledge of cloud solutions and services in a cloud environment. The candidate must be self-motivated, be able to collaborate in a team environment, and show initiative to support and promote solutions that enhance the modern development environment.

Foundation for Success (Basic Qualifications):

This experience is the foundation a candidate needs to be successful in this position:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related field in addition to +2 – 4 years of hands-on experience
  • 5-7+ years of experience with Open Source (Community Edition) PostgreSQL
  • 5+ years of experience in Relational Database Administration/Management
  • Strong knowledge of RedHat Linux
  • Excellent communication skills

  • Demonstrated experience with automated methods and best practices for installation and configuration of PostgreSQL Community Edition

  • Documentation skills for creating and updating processes and procedures
  • Strong experience with monitoring tools and tuning procedures for PostgreSQL Community Edition
  • Extensive experience with backup, recovery, and high availability for PostgreSQL Community Edition
  • Expert level experience with shell scripting

How to Stand Out from the Crowd (Desired Skills):

Showcase your knowledge of modern development through the following experience or skills:

  • PostgreSQL Open-Source Database Administrator experience
  • Demonstrated DEVOPS experience a plus
  • 2 years of experience using Python
  • Proven experience using Ansible
  • Experience with AWS Cloud
  • Linux System Adminstrator experience
  • Experience with Jira, Confluence, GIT/BitBucket or other source control tools
  • Education
  • Bachelor’s degree and 4+ years of experience in a training-related field or Master’s degree and 2+ years of experience in a training-related field
  • Must be able to obtain a Public Trust

Travel: < 10% (CONUS)
