We are hiring a Program Coordinator in Washington, DC.

Position description

Reporting to the Senior Portfolio Manager this position is responsible for planning, implementing, and reporting of assigned projects. 

Position Accountabilities

  1. Support for development, implementation and evaluation of global initiatives and programs and provide additional support
  2. Helps maintain support for international programs Local Sections, Technical Divisions, Committees, Chapters and partner organizations, including funding agencies, multilateral organizations, and civil society organizations. Provides intermittent support to the Committee on International Activities, including sub-committee support as assigned.
  3. Serves as administrator and manager of the International Center using WordPress CMS to manage the site, source new and edit content. Contribute to the editing and organization of a monthly mass newsletter.
  4. Supports  events, meetings and follow up to include note taking and pre-meeting communique such as the Global Coordination Group.
  5. Provides support for websites to assure quality, timely form and content.
  6. Helps fulfill externally funded program reporting requirements including financial in a timely fashion.
  7. Conduct research on pertinent issues impacting the global chemical enterprise, including issues related to advocacy and science communication.
  8. Supports other initiatives as assigned.


  • College degree (Bachelor of Arts/Science) with at 1-2 years relevant experience or advanced degree (Master’s level) in international affairs or related field.
  • Outstanding interpersonal and cross-cultural communication skills are essential as well as direct customer or member service experience.
  • Strong technology skills, or willingness to learn, including website development and maintenance and data base management required (web based products such as WordPress, Smartsheet, other CMS platforms).
  • Demonstrated events planning, communications and marketing experience preferred.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and communicate closely with colleagues and others in a virtual environment.
  • Knowledge of a foreign language preferred.
  • History working with association leadership a plus.
