Senior Project Manager & Business Analyst Remote

We are looking to hire a Senior Project Manager & Business Analyst for a Remote role performing both project management and business analysis for the full life cycle of concurrent product development projects from concept to delivery.  The projects primarily focus on new product development for our portfolio of research data products that are enabled and powered by Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Natural Language Processing, Search Engine, and Knowledge Management technologies.  Partnering and collaborating with business stakeholders (Portfolio Managers; Product Managers; Sales & Marketing) and technical teams (UI / UX designers, solutions architects, software engineers, and external vendors and service providers), this position plans, executes, manages, documents, advises on, and reports on all aspects of project management and business analysis for assigned projects.  Moreover, the professional in this role employs solid technical knowledge, technical fluency, and technical experiences in order to facilitate and enable effective relationship management, cross-functional and multidisciplinary collaborations, and product deliveries.

Business Analysis responsibilities:

  • Learn and understand the strategic visions and roadmaps for new products and their future releases, the results of periodic product and customer research, the ways in which new products resonate with and enhance the works of chemistry researchers and scholars, and the related sales and marketing initiatives.
  • Develop and continuously strengthen excellent relationships with business stakeholders, technology leaders and colleagues.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to elicit, gather, advise on, refine, document, and communicate business requirements for new products.
  • Collaborate and consult with UI/UX designers on the analysis, translation, visualization, and prototype development for business requirements.
  • Collaborate with solutions architects and software engineers to analyze, understand, estimate, and document levels of efforts, resources, and budgets for software engineering, integration, testing, operationalization, and delivery of products.
  • Serve as principal manager of product backlogs; Participate in and contribute to sprint planning and refinement of backlog items; and Consult and communicate with product managers and technical teams on issues, changes, and decisions related to backlogs, sprints, and timelines.
  • Perform planning, analysis, coordination, improvement, oversight, and communications for System Integration Testing, Quality Assurance Testing, and User Acceptance Testing cycles in advance of initial product launches and future releases.

Project Management responsibilities:

  • Develop, plan, execute, and advise on all aspects of the projects from concept to delivery.
  • Partner with the Technology Manager to identify, select, manage, and guide internal and external resources of the projects.
  • Collaborate with and advise the Technology Manager on quarterly, annual, and multi-year financial planning and analysis, budget management, and budget reporting for projects and products.
  • Plan, manage, and facilitate project meetings and workshops, including well-planned, timely, and thoughtful development and communication of agendas and materials; documentation and dissemination of key discussions, decisions and meeting outcomes; and performance and tracking of appropriate follow-up actions.
  • Manage the efficient and successful planning, execution, and completion of sprints and releases.
  • Measure, track, and report on the milestones and progress of each project against project’s pre-defined objectives and key results.
  • Prepare and present audience-specific, clear, and concise communications, project plans and schedules, reports, and status updates on a periodic basis.
  • Identify, discern, evaluate, and advise on project risks, interdependencies, and any inhibiting obstacles.
  • Develop and establish excellent relationships with external technology vendors and professional services firms, and support and facilitate vendor relationship management, vendor performance measurement against pre-defined objectives and key results, contract management and compliance, and assurance of value-delivery by all vendors and service providers.
  • Organize and manage all project plans, backlogs, reports, documents, and contracts in an exceptionally detail-oriented, clear, well-categorized, and well-organized manner within appropriate sites such as JIRA, Microsoft Teams, or Confluence.
  • Participate in and advise on RFI and RFP processes for evaluation and selection of technology products, vendors, and professional services providers.


  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or closely related technical discipline is required.  Master’s degree in a Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business Administration, Project Management, or closely related discipline would be a plus.
  • Minimum of 8 to 10 years’ combined experiences as business analyst and project manager for large-scale, complex, and interrelated information technology and product development projects and portfolios within mid-sized to large organizations.
  • Proven knowledge, experiences, and accomplishments in new product development required. Solid and deep understanding of new product development cycles and processes (idea, concept, research, analysis, product engineering, product marketing and sales, new launches and future releases) would be essential for success in this position.
  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of business analysis and project management, and proven record of accomplishments in such a hybrid role within agile frameworks.
  • Knowledge and experience with tools and methods that help achieve the goals and ideals of agile software development frameworks, including skills and experiences with such tools and methods in any combinations of JIRA, Confluence, Scrum, Kanban, Lean, CI / CD, and DevOps.
  • Deep knowledge and understanding of IT infrastructures and operations, information security, data privacy, software development and integration, software testing methods and practices including automated testing, and cloud-based infrastructure as code, servers, storage, and applications.
  • Ability to plan, strategize, and advise as well as to execute project plans, sort out data and details, spot and resolve issues and risks, and manage competing priorities in a fast-paced and rapidly-evolving product development environment.
  • Excellent skills in the areas of audience-specific communications (written and verbal) and presentation, meeting facilitation, collaboration, adaptability, diplomacy, relationship management, and interactions with senior leadership, business stakeholders, and technical teams.
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, logical reasoning, advising, influencing, detail-orientation, information-synthesizing, problem-solving, and leadership skills.
  • Prior experiences with or current interests in projects and products in Machine Learning, Natural Language Processing, Search Engines, Knowledge Management, Data Management, and Open Source would be a plus.
  • Background or interest in mission-driven science-focused organizations, startup software development environments, publishing organizations, or nonprofit associations would be a plus.
  • Continuous learning and professional development related to trends, markets, technologies, innovations, and best practices in Information Technology, Software Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, Project Management, and Business Analysis, with proven ability to learn and integrate new knowledge quickly and effectively.
